Salman Khan, born Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan on December 27, 1965, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, is one of the most prominent actors in Bollywood. He is the eldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife, Sushila Charak (later adopted the name Salma Khan). Salman has two brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, both of whom are actors and filmmakers, and two sisters, Alvira Khan Agnihotri and an adopted sister, Arpita Khan.

Salman Khan grew up in a film-centric environment, which sparked his interest in acting. He attended St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai, along with his brothers. Later, he attended St. Xavier's College in Mumbai but dropped out to pursue a career in acting.
Salman made his acting debut with a supporting role in the film "Biwi Ho To Aisi" (1988). His first leading role was in "Maine Pyar Kiya" (1989), directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya. The film was a massive hit and established him as a leading actor in Bollywood.
Throughout the 1990s, Salman delivered several hit films such as "Baaghi" (1990), "Patthar Ke Phool" (1991), "Sanam Bewafa" (1991), "Saajan" (1991), "Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!" (1994), and "Karan Arjun" (1995). "Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!" became one of the highest-grossing Indian films at the time and won several awards.
The 2000s and 2010s saw Salman solidify his position as a top actor with blockbusters like "Tere Naam" (2003), "Wanted" (2009), "Dabangg" (2010), "Ek Tha Tiger" (2012), "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" (2015), "Sultan" (2016), and "Tiger Zinda Hai" (2017). In 2007, Salman founded the charitable organization "Being Human," which focuses on education and healthcare for underprivileged children in India. The foundation raises funds through the sale of Being Human-branded merchandise.
Despite his success, Salman has been involved in several legal troubles. He was accused in a hit-and-run case in 2002, where he allegedly ran over five people with his car, resulting in one death. In 2015, he was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison, but the decision was later overturned by the Bombay High Court. He has also faced charges in a blackbuck poaching case during the filming of "Hum Saath Saath Hain" in 1998, for which he was sentenced to five years in prison in 2018 but was granted bail.
Salman's personal life has often been in the limelight. He has been linked romantically with several actresses, including Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali, Aishwarya Rai, and Katrina Kaif. Despite numerous relationships, he remains unmarried.
